September is National Preparedness Month!
If you don't think there are any threats in Arizona, you might want to think again. Monsoons, dust storms and wildfires, are just a few hazards common to the desert, but when it comes to disaster, there are endless possibilities. Think about recent news and the devastating floods in Colorado. There's a good chance that the folks of Boulder are re-thinking their safety plans and wishing they were more prepared for emergencies. It's important to learn what potential threats could be in your neck of the woods.
Tim Ralston of Gear Up Center, and his lifelong friend, Cash Pickens, believe it’s better to be prepared for the worst and to hope for the best, but they know that life doesn’t always stick to the plan. Both having served in the military and done their share of exploring, Tim and Cash have seen a lot of hairy situations and this duo can always find a way to survive.
Tim and Cash believe in being prepared for anything, whether it's a small power outage or a severe disaster, and they want to educate the public on how to be prepared just in case that “worst case scenario” actually happens to your family. To do so, they are holding a Preparedness Month Meetup at the Gear Up Center on Sept. 26 with guest speaker, Tim Howard, formerly with FEMA & DHS in the Department of Homeland Security and currently works for Border Patrol. Learn from these three survival experts to ensure your family is literally ready for anything!
