Century Marine, a local, full-service boat dealership in Mesa, will be showcasing their hot, new water sport boats the International Sportsmen’s Exposition
and the Arizona Boat Show at University of Phoenix Stadium on Feb. 20-23, 2014.
was started in 1979 by Bruce and Janet Bosley, in their family’s living room, fueled from a love for boating and water sports. Currently managed by daughter Melanie Bosley, Century Marine is the longest established boat dealer in the state and the first dealer in Arizona to start holding waterski and wakeboard competitions in the valley.
“We are excited to finally get back into boat shows. We’ve been doing them for 21 years, and are very excited to be involved once again,” said owner Melanie Bosley.
Century Marine has been involved in water sport competitions since the inception of wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Athletes began to hear about Century Marine’s competitions, as they were the first to hold pro/ amateur competitions with cash prize rewards. People were coming from all over the country to participate.
“We’ve spent our entire career building this from grassroots events and pro competitions in the state of Arizona,” said Melanie.
In 2001, Century Marine held the International Arizona Big Air Challenge Competition at Tempe Town Lake, with competitors coming from Australia, England, Germany and all around the globe. The event brought over 20,000 spectators out that weekend. Century Marine has sponsored many pro, semi-pro and amateur wakeboarders and wakesurfers. They are proud to add Jesse Baba, a local up-and-coming wakesurfer, to the Century Marine family.
Jesse Baba, a 17-year-old watersports, enthusiast began jet skiing with his family as a youngster. Jesse’s father, Johnny, grew up surfing as a Hawaiian native, and about a year ago the father and son duo decided to get into wakesurfing, which led them straight to Century Marine. Even as a busy teen, Jesse made time to practice on the lake every day and he picked up wakesurfing quickly. He and his dad were having a lot of fun and decided it was time to buy a good quality wakesurf boat to take their skills to the next level. They selected the 2013 Centurion Enzo.

“Ever since we got the boat, my son has just really progressed and is getting very good. We go out all the time now, even when it’s cold. It’s great to keep some kind of surfing in my family,” said Johnny Baba, Jesse’s father.
Jesse started wakeboarding and then switched to wakesurfing. One year later, he is preparing for his first competition as a Century Marine team surfer in Parker, Ariz., on March 14-15. Jesse is a dedicated athlete and makes times to hit the lake for practice about twice a week, even in the winter. This spring, Jesse will begin boat demos and wakesurf lessons at Lake Pleasant.
One the most common reasons that families decide to invest in a boat is that they feel the time spent on the water with their family is valuable in this busy, digital world.
As said by Century Marine customer, Greg Arnett, “You can’t put a price on the relationship I have built with my family by owning a boat.”
Greg bought his first boat in 2005, and just ordered his second boat this year.
